Shallow Lake Teen Charged After Single-Vehicle Crash in Meaford
A 19-year-old from Shallow Lake is facing impaired driving and dangerous operation charges after crashing into a ditch on Grey Road 18 in Meaford, Grey Bruce OPP say.
Grey Bruce OPP say a 19-year-old from Shallow Lake is facing impaired driving and dangerous operation charges following a crash on Grey Road 18 in the Municipality of Meaford.
Police were called just after noon on Wednesday, August 20, to a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Sideroad 15. Officers say the driver, identified as Ryan Devries, was not injured in the collision.
Following their investigation, OPP charged Devries with operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, operating with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, and dangerous operation.
Police say Devries’ driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days, as required by provincial law.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on September 4.
Grey Bruce OPP reminded drivers that anyone who sees or suspects impaired driving should call 911 in an emergency, or 1-888-310-1122 to report dangerous or careless driving.
