School Board Employee Facing Criminal Charges & Placed on Leave from BGCDSB
Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board notified parents on Wednesday, May 28, that an employee faces criminal charges in an ongoing police investigation.
The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board notified parents yesterday that an employee has been criminally charged as part of an ongoing police investigation.
Lisa Bilodeau, Superintendent of Education, wrote:
“The Board took immediate action upon becoming aware of the allegations, and the individual was placed on leave.
They will remain on leave until further notice.”
The Owen Sound Current has asked BGCDSB to clarify whether this is a paid leave and will share any further information we receive.
The Board says it is fully cooperating with authorities. Bilodeau also noted that individuals who were “impacted by this” have been notified. It remains unclear what “this” is.
The Owen Sound Current has requested comment from BGCDSB and the Owen Sound Police Service regarding the nature of the charges. We have also asked the school board to address parent concerns that the person charged is a teacher.
We will continue to follow this story as it develops.
