The City of Owen Sound has announced a public meeting on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 5:30 p.m, to discuss a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment that would allow for a six-storey hotel.
The City of Owen Sound has announced a public meeting to discuss a proposed Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA No. 54) for a property at 1750 16th Avenue East. The meeting, scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., will take place in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 808 2nd Avenue East.
The application proposes the development of a six-storey, 120-room hotel on the northern portion of the property. The existing buildings and uses on the southern portion of the site will remain, with the potential for future severance of the property.
The current zoning for the property is General Industrial (M1). The proposed changes include:
North Portion (Hotel): Rezoning to Retail Commercial with Special Provision (C2 14.141), which would establish site-specific regulations, including allowances for building height.
South Portion (Existing Commercial): Rezoning to Retail Commercial Holding (C2-H), which will require a retail market analysis for certain retail or commercial uses, as outlined in the City's Official Plan.
