Police Seek Witnesses as Cyclist Seriously Injured & Driver Charged in 4th Avenue West Collision
A 57-year-old Owen Sound cyclist was taken to a London trauma centre after a collision with a pickup truck. The unnamed driver faces a careless driving charge.
A 57-year-old Owen Sound man riding a bicycle was seriously injured Monday night in a collision with a pickup truck in the city’s west side, and the driver has been charged.
The Owen Sound Police Service responded to the collision at the intersection of 4th Avenue West and 3rd Street A West at about 10:17 p.m. on June 29, police said. The cyclist sustained injuries police described as serious but not life-threatening and was taken to a London-area trauma centre for treatment.
Police charged the driver of the pickup truck with careless driving causing bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act. The charge has not been proven in court.
Part of the roadway was closed for several hours overnight while officers and the force’s Forensic Identification Unit examined the scene. It has since reopened.
