Police Say Woman Reversed Into Cruiser Twice, Then Fled; Arrested Nearby
Police report an impaired driving arrest after a cruiser was struck and officers were nearly hit; seven Criminal Code and three HTA charges laid.

Owen Sound police say a woman was arrested Sunday after reversing into a cruiser, nearly hitting two officers, and fleeing the scene before her vehicle became inoperable.
According to the Owen Sound Police Service, officers were called to check on the well-being of a woman in the city on Sunday, October 12, 2025. Police say they found her in a vehicle and, after speaking with her, determined she was impaired.
When told to step out, she allegedly started the engine, shifted into reverse and struck a cruiser twice, narrowly missing the two officers on scene, police said. She then fled and almost hit another cruiser in the process, according to police.
Police report the suspect vehicle was found a short distance away after it stopped functioning due to damage.
The woman was arrested and taken to the station, where police say she provided two breath samples that were well over the legal limit for blood-alcohol concentration.
She is charged with seven Criminal Code offences and three Highway Traffic Act offences. The accused was held for a bail hearing on Monday, October 13.
Police did not release the accused’s name, age, or place of residence, nor the specific Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act charges. The precise locations where the incidents occurred were not disclosed.
Update:
Police Chief Craig Ambrose said the bumper guard on the front of the police vehicle did its job of protecting the vehicle and internal components from damage. However, the bumperguard and mounts now need to be replaced.
