Police Charge Owen Sound Woman After Protest Turns Destructive in London
London police have charged an Owen Sound woman with mischief and other offences following a protest they say caused $32,000 in damage.
A 34-year-old Owen Sound woman is facing several charges after a protest outside a London conference centre resulted in property damage on Tuesday morning.
According to the London Police Service, officers were called to the intersection of York and Wellington streets around 7:45 a.m. on October 21 after reports of an active protest. Demonstrators were reportedly blocking the building’s front entrance and using construction materials to barricade the parking garage.
Police say paint had been thrown at staff members before officers arrived. One masked protester allegedly used a hammer to break electronic locks off the building’s entrance. She was later identified by police as Pamela Reano, 34, of Owen Sound.
When officers attempted to arrest her, Reano reportedly fled into the crowd and resisted police. She was eventually taken into custody.
Reano has been charged with:
Mischief over $5,000
Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
Resist arrest
Disguise with intent
Police estimate the damage to the building at approximately $32,000.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying other individuals who participated in the protest. Anyone with information is asked to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online through London Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
Police emphasized that while the right to peaceful assembly and expression is respected, property damage or violence will not be tolerated.
Reano has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in London court on December 4, 2025, in connection with the charges.
