A 34-year-old Grey Highlands man faces multiple charges after Grey Bruce OPP allege he was driving 125 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and showed signs of impairment in Flesherton.
A Grey Highlands man is facing multiple charges after Grey Bruce OPP say he was driving at more than double the speed limit and allegedly showed signs of impairment during a late-night traffic stop in Flesherton.
Police say the incident happened around 11:13 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, while officers were conducting radar enforcement in Flesherton, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
According to OPP, an officer observed a northbound vehicle travelling 125 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone.
Police allege that as the officer attempted to catch up and initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle tried to pass another northbound vehicle while approaching a hill or grade, forcing an oncoming southbound driver onto the shoulder to avoid a collision.
After stopping the vehicle, officers say they observed signs of alcohol impairment.
Bradley Williams, 34, of Grey Highlands, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired – alcohol
Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg
Dangerous operation
Fail to signal lane change
Drive left of centre approaching a hill or grade
Stunt driving
Driving with an open container of liquor
Police said the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on June 4.
Under Ontario law, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Grey Bruce OPP say they continue to focus on impaired, aggressive, and dangerous driving enforcement.
Anyone who suspects an impaired driver can call 911 in an emergency. Concerns about aggressive or careless driving can also be reported to OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
