Pianist Philip Chiu Joins Georgian Bay Symphony for "Bravery and Brilliance" May 23
JUNO winner Philip Chiu performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 with the Georgian Bay Symphony at Eastridge Community School on Saturday, May 23 at 7 p.m.
JUNO Award-winning pianist Philip Chiu will perform with the Georgian Bay Symphony in Owen Sound on Saturday, May 23.
The concert, titled Bravery and Brilliance, features Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor and music from Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird. Composed in 1910, The Firebird draws on Russian folk tales and tells the story of Prince Ivan, who rescues a group of princesses and knights from the sorcerer Kashchei with the help of a magical firebird.
Chiu is among Canada’s most widely recognized concert pianists and a frequent collaborator with orchestras across the country.
The performance begins at 7 p.m. at Eastridge Community School, 1550 8th Street East. Tickets are available through the Georgian Bay Symphony website at georgianbaysymphony.ca.
