Owen Sound Police: Expect Ongoing Police Presence at West Side Apartment Building
One man is in custody following a police pursuit and ground search Sunday and into Monday morning, just east of Owen Sound. Police say the incident began at a westside apartment building.
A man taken into custody east of Owen Sound early Monday morning—following a large-scale ground search that began late Sunday near Highway 26—was wanted in connection with an incident in Owen Sound, police have confirmed.
According to the Owen Sound Police Service, officers responded to a disturbance call at a residence on the west side of Owen Sound around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13. Before police arrived, a male fled the scene in a vehicle.
OSPS’s initial investigation into the disturbance call led to their pursuit of the suspect. Police attempted to stop the vehicle multiple times but called off the pursuit to protect public safety.
With assistance from the Grey Bruce OPP, West Region Emergency Response Team, and the West Region Canine Unit, a coordinated ground search occurred throughout Sunday night and into Monday morning.
The suspect was located and arrested in the area east of Owen Sound, near Highway 26. He was turned over to OSPS and is now in custody.
Police remain on scene at a westside apartment building linked to the case, but officials say there is no threat to public safety at this time.
Despite rumours of a second suspect and ongoing search, we can confirm that one suspect was sought, and they were taken into custody as announced at 8:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
