Owen Sound Police Accepting Applications for Youth in Policing Program

The Owen Sound Police Service is now accepting applications for Youth in Policing Student positions.
This employment opportunity is in partnership with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI). This employment opportunity will be part-time, commencing in October 2025 and running through March 2026.
The YIPI program is designed to enhance relationships between police and the communities they serve. This is achieved by developing positive relationships with the citizens of Owen Sound, promoting peer-to-peer youth engagement to address community and online safety concerns and exposing youth to the policing work environment through educational and productive work assignments.
YIPI students will develop skills to effectively deliver information to the community on crime prevention, street and winter safety and social media awareness. This program is part of the Owen Sound Police Community Services Department and under the direct supervision of the Community Service Officer.
YIPI students will receive all necessary training and mentoring required for the job through the Owen Sound Police Service.
This employment opportunity is open to students meeting the following criteria.
Aged 14-19 years and who are enrolled in school for the 2025-2026 school year
Eligible to work in Canada
Who seek work experience/job skills training
Who successfully completes the recruitment and background process
Is interested in learning about community engagement, law and communications
