Owen Sound Man Charged in Fatal May 10 Hit-and-Run
Devon Desborough, 21, of Owen Sound has been charged in the weekend hit-and-run that took the life of another local man. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

The Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) has identified and charged a suspect in connection with the fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Saturday morning on the city’s east side.
Devon Desborough, 21, of Owen Sound, has been arrested and charged with Failing to Stop at an Accident Causing Death, and Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death.
Police confirmed Wednesday night that Desborough surrendered to authorities following consultation with legal counsel. He is currently in custody pending a bail hearing.
The charges stem from a collision near the intersection of 5th Street East and 5th Avenue East, where a young man was struck and killed while walking at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Vehicle Located, Investigation Ongoing
Earlier this week, police seized a 2018 white Honda Civic, believed to be the vehicle involved. The car was located and is undergoing forensic analysis by the Criminal Investigations Branch.
Following Desborough’s arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Owen Sound’s west side, where they recovered additional evidence related to the incident.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
Public Still Urged to Assist
Despite the arrest, investigators continue to seek the public’s help in reconstructing the events surrounding the collision. Residents and business owners near the area of 5th Street East and 5th Avenue East are being asked to review any surveillance, dashcam, or doorbell camera footage from the early hours of May 10.
