Owen Sound Man Charged After Driving Wrong Way on Highway 10 Near Chatsworth
A 49-year-old Owen Sound man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges after OPP say he was spotted heading south in the northbound lane of Highway 10 near Chatsworth.
A 49-year-old Owen Sound man is facing multiple criminal charges after police say he was driving the wrong way on Highway 10 near Chatsworth early Monday morning.
According to Grey Bruce OPP, the incident happened at approximately 7:24 a.m. on January 5, when an officer travelling southbound on Highway 10 near Sideroad 60 observed a vehicle heading south in the northbound lane.
The officer conducted a traffic stop and, following further investigation, placed the driver under arrest for impaired driving.
The accused, identified as Srikumar Thekkepurakkal Dasan, has been charged with impaired operation due to alcohol, operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code.
Police say the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven, as required under Ontario’s impaired driving laws. No injuries or collisions were reported.
Dasan was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 22, 2026.
The OPP did not confirm whether this was a first offence, nor did they provide details on the driver’s blood alcohol level. The force is continuing to urge members of the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 in emergencies or using the non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.
