Owen Sound High School Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault & Exploitation
The Ontario College of Teachers has added a note to Colin Louis Correia's profile notifying the public he was charged by Owen Sound Police on May 9, 2025.
A notation added to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) profile for Colin Louis Correia, a teacher at St. Mary’s High School in Owen Sound, states that the Technology teacher has been charged with one count each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
According to the OCT, Correia was arrested and charged by the Owen Sound Police Service on May 9, 2025.

The Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board sent an email to SMHS parents on Wednesday, May 28, notifying them that an employee was facing criminal charges in an ongoing police investigation.
Correia made a first appearance in Owen Sound court the next day. Both the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board and the Owen Sound Police Service declined to provide information about the accused, citing the ongoing investigation and a court-ordered publication ban on information that could identify the victim.
A previous version of the staff directory page on the St. Mary’s High School website listed Colin Correia as a Technology teacher. The page was down and returning a 404 error at the time of publication.
In addition to teaching shop classes, Correia’s social media presence lists his employment as ‘Firefighter, South Bruce Peninsula.’ We have not confirmed whether he is still an active member.
Correia also ran for a council seat in Georgian Bluffs in the 2022 election.
Despite the notation on Correia’s file, the Ontario College of Teachers lists him as a teacher ‘in good standing.’ Correia is expected back in court in August.
OSPS stated previously that their Criminal Investigation Branch is asking any potential witnesses or victims to come forward.
Information can be reported directly to the Owen Sound Police Service. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
When contacted by The Owen Sound Current, Correia said he has been advised by his lawyer not to comment.
