A 29-year-old Owen Sound resident is facing multiple driving-related charges following a single-vehicle crash earlier this week in Georgian Bluffs.
At around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, members of the Grey Bruce OPP were called to Somers Street near 16th Street West after a concerned citizen reported a pickup truck stuck in a ditch and suspected the driver might be impaired.
Police say they identified and arrested the driver at the scene, and arrested 29-year-old Corey Carder of Owen Sound.
He is now facing three criminal charges: operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol, operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Under Ontario law, Carder’s driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police did not release any details about whether anyone else was involved or injured in the incident. There was also no mention of whether roadside tests were conducted or how impairment was determined.
Carder was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 22, 2026.
The Grey Bruce OPP continues to encourage the public to report suspected impaired drivers. In emergencies, call 911. Non-urgent reports can be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
