Owen Sound City Council meets Monday, November 20, with open session beginning at 5:30pm in council chambers. You can view the meeting via Rogers TV or on the City’s Council and Committees webpage.

Highlights of what’s coming up Monday include:

  • Deputations from community members, one on ‘Liveable Basic Income Plan’ and another opposing rental caps on short-term rentals, which council is expected to vote on.

  • Minutes from the Police Services Board meeting, including a request for the Chamber of Commerce to clarify their concerns about taxi licensing; reasoning for going $200,000 over budget; and a recommendation to approve up to $806,000 to renovate and relocate the dispatch area to the second floor of the police station in the 2024 budget.

  • Minutes from the River District Board of Management meeting, including a report from OSPS noting that foot and bike patrol hours in the River District have increased, and that most patrols are during the daytime.

  • Recommendations from the Corporate Services Committee that staff bring forward a draft budget with a proposed Municipal Rate increase between 3% and 6% for further deliberation, and to bring forward a line item in the 2024 budget to consider a $5,000, 3-year donation commitment to Grey Bruce Hospice Inc.

There’s plenty more… let’s get into it.
