Council will hear deputations on basic income and short-term rental caps, and consider several committee recommendations

Owen Sound City Council meets Monday, November 20, with open session beginning at 5:30pm in council chambers. You can view the meeting via Rogers TV or on the City’s Council and Committees webpage.
Highlights of what’s coming up Monday include:
Deputations from community members, one on ‘Liveable Basic Income Plan’ and another opposing rental caps on short-term rentals, which council is expected to vote on.
Minutes from the Police Services Board meeting, including a request for the Chamber of Commerce to clarify their concerns about taxi licensing; reasoning for going $200,000 over budget; and a recommendation to approve up to $806,000 to renovate and relocate the dispatch area to the second floor of the police station in the 2024 budget.
Minutes from the River District Board of Management meeting, including a report from OSPS noting that foot and bike patrol hours in the River District have increased, and that most patrols are during the daytime.
Recommendations from the Corporate Services Committee that staff bring forward a draft budget with a proposed Municipal Rate increase between 3% and 6% for further deliberation, and to bring forward a line item in the 2024 budget to consider a $5,000, 3-year donation commitment to Grey Bruce Hospice Inc.
