Join the Owen Sound City Band on July 21 in Harrison Park for its 105th anniversary picnic at 5 p.m., followed by a free outdoor concert at 7:30 p.m.
As part of its ongoing Free Summer Concert Series, the Owen Sound City Band will celebrate its 105th anniversary on Monday, July 21, with a community picnic and special evening performance in Harrison Park.
The milestone event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Harrison Park Picnic Shelter, where current and former band members, their families, and the public are invited to gather. Food and beverages will be available from 5:30 p.m., ahead of the free concert at the Bandstand starting at 7:30 p.m.
In keeping with tradition, the City Band is extending a warm welcome to past members and their families to attend the annual City Band family picnic—an opportunity to reconnect, reminisce, and mark over a century of musical history in Owen Sound.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP by email to info@owensoundcityband.org.
Founded in 1920, the Owen Sound City Band is one of Canada’s longest-running community bands. Now under the direction of Julia Richards, the ensemble has been performing weekly concerts in Harrison Park throughout July and August, offering a wide-ranging program under the theme Music of Many Styles and Vintages—from marches and show tunes to swing, traditional, and contemporary selections.
The summer concert series continues July 28 at 7:30 p.m., then shifts to a 7:15 p.m. start time for August performances on the 11th, 18th, and 25th. Concerts take place outdoors near the Bandstand, weather permitting.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, and the nearby Harrison Park Inn Restaurant will remain open until 9:00 p.m. daily for added convenience.
