The Owen Sound Attack is warning of a scam involving fraudulent emails impersonating team staff to solicit vendor payments. Legitimate communication comes from verified @attackhockey.com addresses.

The Owen Sound Attack Hockey Club is warning local businesses and community members to be on alert after discovering a fraudulent email scam impersonating members of its Business Operations team.
According to a public statement issued by the team on January 29, scammers are attempting to deceive recipients by posing as Attack staff in emails that solicit advance payments for vendor space, merchandise tables, or promotional opportunities at upcoming home games during the 2025–26 season.
“These scammers are attempting to collect payment in exchange for vendor space, merchandise tables, or promotional opportunities at upcoming home games,” the club wrote in an attached graphic shared to social media.
“The fraudulent emails request that advance payments be submitted through unofficial channels.”
The team emphasized that it will never request payment without first issuing an official invoice, and that all vendor agreements are preceded by in-person communication.
“Please note that the Owen Sound Attack will never engage in a vendor agreement without prior in-person communication or request advance payment without first issuing an official invoice,” the statement read.
The club clarified that legitimate emails will always come from verified @attackhockey.com addresses, such as ghoddinott@attackhockey.com, and encouraged anyone who receives a suspicious message to contact the Business Operations team directly for confirmation.
The Owen Sound Attack thanked the community for its vigilance and reminded fans and partners to verify any unexpected or unusual requests for payment.
