OPP Street Crime Unit Recovers Over $2.3 Million in Stolen Property in Chatsworth
Police recovered four stolen tractor-trailer trucks, 35 stolen commercial motor vehicle trailers and other vehicles from the chop-shop operation on Sideroad 5.
A Grand Valley man is facing multiple charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed search warrants in Chatsworth Township, leading to the recovery of stolen commercial motor vehicles valued at over $2.3 million.
On January 15, 2025, officers from the Grey Bruce OPP CSCU conducted an investigation at a property on Sideroad 5 in Chatsworth Township, where they located a significant number of stolen commercial vehicles and trailers. A search warrant was executed, resulting in the recovery of four stolen tractor-trailer trucks, 35 stolen commercial motor vehicle trailers, and additional stolen vehicles in various stages of disassembly.
As a result of the investigation, Amardeep Bhaati, 41, of Grand Valley has been charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (51 counts)
Altering/destroying/removing a vehicle identification number (8 counts)
Fraudulent concealment (8 counts)
The accused was arrested and later released, with a scheduled court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on February 27, 2025.
