OPP Seize $259K in Drugs and Cash in Wiarton Trafficking Investigation
OPP seized over $259,000 in fentanyl, cocaine, meth, cash, and property in Wiarton drug bust, making it one of the largest fentanyl seizures in Grey-Bruce history. Two people face trafficking charges.
Police have confirmed the street value of drugs seized during a major drug trafficking investigation in Wiarton last month, revealing one of the largest suspected fentanyl busts ever recorded in Grey-Bruce.
According to the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a total of $259,270 in drugs, cash, and offence-related property was seized during a search warrant executed on October 9, 2025, at a residence on Frank Street in Wiarton.
The search was led by the Grey-Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from multiple specialized OPP teams.
Breakdown of the Seizures
820.3 grams of fentanyl – estimated street value: $205,075
332.7 grams of cocaine – estimated street value: $33,270
173.6 grams of methamphetamine – estimated street value: $17,360
Canadian currency – $1,695
Offence-related property – estimated value: $1,800
The total combined value of controlled substances seized is $255,705, with an overall estimated value including cash and property at $259,270.
To understand the scale of the fentanyl seizure, police noted that fentanyl is commonly sold and used by the point (0.1 grams), making 820.3 grams equivalent to roughly 8,203 potential doses. For context, Wiarton’s population was recorded at 1,989 during the 2021 Census, meaning this seizure represented over four doses per resident.
Cocaine and methamphetamine are typically distributed by the gram, suggesting an additional 332 doses of cocaine and 173 doses of meth.
Police say the bust represents a “significant disruption” to the region’s illegal drug supply.
Charges Laid
Two individuals were arrested in connection with the investigation:
Samuel Elvira Junior, 31, of Toronto, was arrested on October 9. He faced six charges, including possession of identity documents; failure to comply with probation; and possession of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. Elvira Junior was kept in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for October 30 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
Dawn Ducker, 58, of Wiarton, was arrested the following day and charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. She was released on a Form 11 undertaking.
The investigation began in July 2025 and involved months of surveillance and intelligence gathering. The October 9 search warrant was executed with the support of Huron-Perth and Wellington CSCUs, the Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, the West Region Emergency Response Team, and OPP Canine Services.
Police are reminding the public that fentanyl is a highly toxic opioid and even trace exposure can be fatal. The OPP encourages individuals to carry naloxone, a medication that temporarily reverses opioid overdoses. Kits are available free at many pharmacies and health agencies.
The investigation remains ongoing.
