OPP Remind Drivers to Take Precautions After Running Car Stolen in Meaford
2003 grey Chevrolet Impala with plate BYVS 361 stolen while owner was 15 meters away
On February 8, 2024, the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a stolen vehicle on Trowbridge Street in Meaford.
On February 8th, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., it is reported that the vehicle owner was outside with their vehicle running. The owner was approximately 15 meters from his vehicle to get an item. While walking back to the vehicle the owner heard the door shut and the vehicle drove East bound on Berry Street.
The vehicle is described as a 2003 grey Chevrolet Impala with plate BYVS 361.
Vehicle owners can do simple things to decrease the risk of being victimized, such as:
Never leave a running vehicle unattended
Lock your doors
Roll up your windows
Keep valuables out of sight
Keep your registration and proof of insurance in your wallet or purse, not in the glove box
Pocket your keys
At night or during extended parking periods, always park in a well-lit area.
