Open Letter to MPP Paul Vickers: How Will You Ensure Grey-Bruce Priorities are Defended?
Reader Janine Fawcett shares concerns about healthcare, education, and conservation in an open letter, questioning Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound's MPP on what concrete actions are being taken to protect them.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Paul Vickers,
I am writing as a resident of Grey-Bruce to express my concern about the growing challenges facing our communities, especially in the areas of conservation, education, and healthcare.
Our region depends on strong conservation practices to protect our water, farmland, forests, and natural heritage. We also need meaningful support for rural schools, students, and educators, who are often asked to do more with less.
And in healthcare, many families are still dealing with long waits, limited access to doctors, emergency department pressures, and unequal service in smaller communities.
These are not abstract issues here — they affect daily life for seniors, families, farmers, and small businesses.
You have said that you want to be a strong voice for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound and that you support farmers, better healthcare access, local infrastructure, and listening to municipalities on issues like conservation authority changes.
You have also taken on the role of Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness, which gives you an opportunity to advocate for rural Ontario from within government.
With that responsibility, I hope you will press for real, local solutions instead of simply following Doug Ford’s agenda when it does not match the needs of Grey-Bruce.
What concrete actions are you taking to protect conservation in Grey-Bruce, strengthen rural education, and improve healthcare access for our communities?
More importantly, how will you make sure the priorities of Grey-Bruce are heard and defended, even when they differ from the Premier’s direction?
I look forward to your response.
