Oct 31: The Halloween Edition (Safe for Scaredy Cats!) 🐈⬛
Plus: A reminder to drive carefully and watch for trick-or-treaters

Our most pressing order of business today is, of course, CANDY!!! 🍬🍫🍭 No tricks, only treats. Okay?
Remember – it’s Halloween night.
If you’re taking the family out, stay visible. Brightly coloured clothing, reflective tape, and glow sticks all help. Flashlights pointed at the ground (don’t blind the drivers) can make you easier to see, too.
Tackle one side of the street at a time, avoid crisscrossing over, and be careful to cross only at intersections.
Even if you don’t participate, there will be many littles (and likely some big ‘uns) running around town in the dark chasing candy. Drive slower than usual, and keep an eye out. 👀
Now, for a bit of deliciousness before we get to the news.
Our local restaurant reviewer, one of The Owen Sound Current’s community columnists, took her husband out for lunch to do “research” recently.
“For almost ten years, The Milk Maid has been a fixture in downtown Owen Sound, offering a selection of fine cheese and charcuterie that you won’t likely find at the big box grocery stores.
After a couple of ownership changes over this time, it has matured into a very popular cheese shop with the bonus of a bistro menu that showcases the meat and cheese from the counter.”
Public Notices
There are over a dozen City of Owen Sound meetings happening this month either open to public input or specifically designated public meetings. ICYMI, we shared a list yesterday.
City staff will be installing the seasonal Noma cross-street lights and removing the banners along Second Avenue East on Thursday and Friday, closing one block at a time to minimize the disruption to visitors and businesses in the River District. Learn more here.
