There’s a City of Owen Sound Council meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. Here’s a brief look at what’s up for discussion this evening:

  • Council will hear the monthly City Manager’s update.

  • Georgian Bay Folk Society has invited Council to send a representative to its board meetings in an official capacity.

  • The City Manager will ask Council to extend the development charges exemption for the BCK Lot, as the approx $1.1 million exemption granted in 2022 has expired and the owners now qualify for another $1.889 million in tax relief over a 10-year period under a second program.

  • Staff will request Council’s okay to lease 8 parking spots in Municipal Lot 3 to Royal Rose Court, the former Courthouse and Jail Property downtown.

There’s a lot more coming to Council tonight, including a site plan amendment request for 297 18th Street East (Georgian Landing), staff’s second crack at a response to Grey County’s request for feedback on a proposed joint planning model, a proposal to reduce City Council reps on the River District Board from two to one, and more.

You can see the agenda in full here. You can either attend the meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers or watch the live stream on the City’s website or Rogers TV.
