Timbits hockey players entertained the crowd before the game and during 2nd intermission of the Owen Sound Attack vs London Knights on Sunday, November 3. The Attack fell to the Knights 2-1 in overtime.

Owen Sound Council meets today, Monday, November 4, at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 808 2nd Avenue East. On the agenda:

  • A deputation from Grey Sauble Conservation Authority on their 2025 budget and administration building renovation.

  • A staff report on a proposed Niagara Escarpment Development Permit application at 318087 Highway 6 & 10 in Meaford, where staff recommend against extending municipal water and sewer services for high-density development outside settlement areas.

  • Council will consider authorizing agreements for catenary lighting installation in Carney's Lane and Artists’ Alley to enhance safety, ambiance, and foot traffic, using $15,000 from River District Board-approved reserves.

  • Consent agenda items, including Police Services board meeting minutes, Grey Bruce Poverty Task Force minutes, four flag-flying requests, and HR recommendations to update staff vacation accrual policies and salary grids.

  • Six recommendations from the Corporate Services Committee asking Council to enact various bylaws.

  • One recommendation from the Operations Committee that Council reduce the speed limit to 40 km/h through much of the downtown area, and another to increase bus fares.

It’s a packed agenda, and we’ll bring the highlights, but you’d best tune in if you don’t want to miss anything. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, and members of the public can attend. You can also watch the live stream on the City website, or catch it on Rogers TV.

  • Grey County - Notice of 2025 Budget Meetings – Grey County has set the schedule for the 2025 budget discussions and budget approval.

  • The Tom Thomson Art Gallery Advisory Committee meets on Wednesday, November 6, at 2 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. The agenda includes a 2025 budget presentation and updates from the Director and fundraising team.
