As communities across Grey-Bruce continue to navigate the growing crises of homelessness, addiction, and mental health, public debate has intensified, often marked by frustration, fear, and stigma.

In today’s Letter to the Editor, reader Jacob Morris-Wheeler offers a deeply personal and urgent perspective on how shifting societal narratives are impacting vulnerable people locally and across Canada.

Morris-Wheeler reflects on his own journey to recovery and warns that a growing wave of criminalization, political polarization, and dehumanizing rhetoric risks pushing people further into crisis. Whether you agree or disagree, his perspective is rooted in real experience, and it offers important food for thought as our region grapples with how best to respond to complex and intersecting social challenges.
