In today’s community contribution, Harmony Centre board member Lorraine Campbell introduces us to Kelda Mikalson — a local music teacher whose work is rooted in compassion, play, and connection.
Kelda’s students span generations, but all are met with the same invitation: use your voice, and have fun doing it.
We’re proud to share Lorraine’s latest Profiles piece, which highlights not just Kelda’s musical background but the deeper reasons behind her teaching, and why creating space for people to sing freely matters more than ever.
Profile: Music, Community, and Connection - Sing with Kelda Mikalson
Prior to COVID, Kelda was taking her intergenerational programs to retirement homes and long-term care facilities. The programs were aimed at infants, parents, and seniors. She says the participants had a lot of fun all together. Looking for a space of her own, Kelda moved to Harmony Centre in June of 2024 and has settled well into her airy studio.
