Good Morning Readers,

It was an unsettling weekend in Saugeen Shores and surrounding communities.

A series of incidents on Saturday led to a heavy police presence, road closures, a serious motor vehicle collision in Port Elgin, and a fatal police shooting near Paisley that is now under investigation by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.

Police have stated there is no ongoing threat to public safety. However, investigations remain active and further details are expected.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau thanked first responders for their efforts, stating:

“I would like to thank the local and regional police, fire and EMS for their response to this incident in our community.

Everyone’s thoughts are with those who has been impacted, and I encourage all those affected to reach out to Victim Services Bruce Grey for support.”

Saugeen Shores Police Service is also encouraging anyone who was involved in, witnessed, or was affected by the February 21 incidents to seek support through Victim Services Bruce Grey.
