It’s Groundhog Day in Bruce County, and while we await Wiarton Willie’s weather prediction, a very different kind of outlook is coming from another small town — this one further south.
In Mildmay, resident David Wood writes in response to the Bank of Montreal’s decision to close its local branch, eliminating all in-person services and leaving longtime rural customers behind.
For a town that helped build the bank’s success, he argues, this isn’t just a closure. It’s a betrayal.
