Happy Monday, Readers.

We have two pieces to bring you current on how local municipal election races are shaping up — one specific to Owen Sound, the other covering the remaining 16 lower-tier municipalities across Grey and Bruce Counties.

Some races are getting crowded. South Bruce Peninsula has four candidates for mayor and 10 for three council seats, for example. Others are empty: Georgian Bluffs has five councillor seats and nobody registered for any of them.

Up in North Bruce Peninsula, there’s just one lonely name on the entire ballot. Learn more under Local News.

If you’ve been considering running to represent your community, there’s still time. Nominations close Friday, August 21 at 2 p.m.

This is the time to check your information on the voter registry, too. You can do it on Elections Ontario’s RegisterToVote website here. Doing it now ensures any municipality that pulls its voters list from the database to send ballots or reminders can reach you. If you aren’t registered, you will need to follow your municipality’s process for verifying your identity during the election.

So — it’s worth a few clicks to get that sorted now and out of the way.
