Jen Shaw grew up on the Christie grain and dairy farm just west of the Bruce Grey Line. Like so many farm kids, she left the area for school and her early career.

She earned a degree in Commerce (Agricultural Business) at the University of Guelph and her Executive MBA at Ivey Business School at Western University. Jen held a variety of progressive roles over 10 years at John Deere, then served 4H Canada as Director of Business Development for three years.

And like so many, she came back. You might recognize Jen now as a co-owner of Bonfire on Queen in Paisley, from her previous role as Executive Director of Catapult Grey-Bruce, or perhaps as the Deputy Mayor of Arran-Elderslie.

When it comes to building business and community in rural Ontario, Jen is one of the sharpest people I know. We’re thrilled to welcome Jen onboard as our newest Owen Sound Current columnist, and hope you enjoy her first contribution.
