Meaford Man Charged After Tractor Collides with Police Cruiser During Arrest Attempt
A 69-year-old Meaford man faces charges after allegedly fleeing police on a tractor and striking a cruiser. No injuries reported; bail hearing took place June 30.
A 69-year-old man has been arrested and charged after an incident involving a tractor and a police vehicle in the Municipality of Meaford on Saturday.
According to Grey Bruce OPP, officers observed a man known to them operating a tractor on private property on June 28. When police attempted to engage with the individual, he fled the scene on the tractor, striking a police cruiser in the process.
The officer was not injured, though the cruiser sustained significant damage. The man was eventually taken into custody without further incident.
Robert Heasman, 69, of Meaford, has been charged under the Criminal Code with dangerous operation of a vehicle and assaulting a peace officer with a weapon.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on June 30 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.
