McDonald’s & MacEwen Gas Bar Coming To Walkerton
The Municipality of Brockton and developer Edificio have announced a $3.85-million project that will bring a McDonald’s restaurant and MacEwen gas bar to 2 Ontario Road in Walkerton.

Walkerton is getting a McDonald’s.
The Municipality of Brockton and developer Edificio announced February 23 that a new McDonald’s restaurant and MacEwen gas bar will be built at 2 Ontario Road in Walkerton, bringing the major fast-food chain to the community for the first time.
Until now, the closest McDonald’s locations for Walkerton residents have been in Hanover, Wingham, Port Elgin and Kincardine.
The new development will include a 5,900-square-foot McDonald’s quick-service restaurant, a 2,000-square-foot MacEwen convenience store and a four-pump retail gas bar. The total project value is $3.85 million.
Construction is underway, with excavation and site preparation currently in progress. All required building and foundation permits have been secured through Bruce County. The project remains on schedule for completion in late summer 2026, with the site expected to open in late summer or early fall.
When operational, the development is expected to create approximately 15 part-time and full-time jobs. The announcement also notes that local trades and suppliers are involved during the construction phase.
“This development addresses service gaps within the immediate catchment area by bringing food, retail, and fuel services together in one convenient location,” said Matthew Young, Senior Project Manager with Edificio.
“Improved access to fuel and everyday essentials will enhance convenience and safety for Brockton residents, while reducing the need to travel to neighbouring communities.”
Mayor Chris Peabody described the project as an investment in the municipality’s long-term growth.
“This project represents a meaningful investment in Brockton’s future,” Peabody said. “By expanding access to essential services and strengthening our commercial base, we are supporting residents and local businesses while building long-term economic resilience.”
