A recent sighting of a black bear in the heart of Owen Sound sparked both surprise and curiosity among residents.
For reader Suzanne Sloane, however, it stirred memories of a childhood lived deep in northern Ontario, where bears were more neighbour than novelty.
In this heartfelt letter, Sloane recounts her father’s timeless advice alongside vivid tales of blueberry-picking encounters, vanished guinea pigs, and a flat tire that turned into a face-to-snout standoff.
