The "Safety Stops Here" campaign by the Grey Bruce OPP is now underway, with increased patrols from May 12 to 15 to enforce school bus stop-arm laws and crack down on dangerous driving near bus routes.
While the initiative wraps up later this week, the need for vigilance won’t end there.
At the Owen Sound Current, we’ve noticed a growing number of reports involving drivers who fail to stop for school buses—or worse, collide with them. These aren’t just lapses in judgment; they’re serious risks to children’s safety.
Whether or not enforcement is active, the responsibility is ours every day: slow down, stop when required, and stay alert around school zones.
If you see a driver endangering others, report it to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677).
Let’s help make sure this week's campaign has a lasting impact.
