We begin this edition with an update on the tragic news delivered on Saturday night, when subscribers received our initial report on a fatal hit-and-run on Owen Sound’s east side.
Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS) are now appealing to the public for assistance as their investigation continues.
A young man was killed near 5th Street East and 5th Avenue East around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver did not remain at the scene.
Police believe the vehicle involved is a white Honda Civic, model year 2016 to 2021, likely with front-end damage.
Officers have been canvassing the neighbourhood, and residents or drivers in the area at the time are urged to check any doorbell, security, or dashcam footage.
Someone knows something.
Leaving the scene was a tragic mistake. But remaining silent now turns it into a lasting injustice and prolongs the pain of not knowing for the victim’s family and friends.
If you have any information, no matter how minor it may seem, please get in touch with the investigators. OSPS is asking that you contact Detective Geoff Bridgeman, at 519-376-1234, extension 1189, or gbridgeman@owensoundpolice.com. See the rest of this update under Local News.
We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as new information becomes available.
