It all started with a longing for community, a few open hearts, and a ukulele played slightly off-key.

This week’s feature from Joel Pennington is a love letter to grassroots connection—and a gentle nudge toward what more we could build together. Solidarity Sundays started with a simple idea: create a space where people can gather without expectations, just to be in each other’s company. What’s unfolded is something much deeper.

From spontaneous music circles to much-needed moments of relief for caregivers, these Sunday mornings at the Harmony Centre have become a quiet but powerful force in Owen Sound.

Joel shares the heart behind the event, the ease with which it came together—and the bigger question: if something this meaningful was this simple to make happen... what else might we do?
