How can a community heal itself when it openly segregates people?? This certainly doesn't have an inclusive feel to it😢

I am pleased the supporting churches are listed. I wanted to state that the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour is not involved and would not endorse the event. Our beliefs do not align with those of the event organizers. We welcome ALL and would involve all in our church family.

I hope more churches take the Lutheran led and dissociate themselves. Owen Sound officials need to wake up as other cities have done, not dig in their heels and justify a moral mistake.

This should not be coming into Canada, into a public forum, where the focus certainly is not inclusive. The title alone - "Burn Canada", is a negative preception.

It's sad our Kelso Beach Park is being used for an event labelled Burn Canada. To minimize support for this type of event, the best recourse is to stay away. We are appalled that our city allowed this event to take place at Kelso Beach.

The Burn Canada / Burn Owen Sound title is very offensive in itself.

It is most disappointing that such a political movement -buried in religion - is provided a rented public space - these events further divide communities.

The six congregations involved could have very likely found a private piece of rural land on which to host their meeting / event.

There has always been differing viewpoints , on the right , in the middle and on the left - that said- given the reference to MAGA support and tying it to religion - makes this Burn concept particularly concerning and unclear.

Is it to pray or is it to expand a political movement that only allows “certain” people membership?

It’s somewhat surprising local congregations listed have subscribed to this individual as their leader. Very concerning. At a moment in time when compassion and empathy are most needed- this ‘burn’ movement further promotes a division and polarization of right & left leaning good people.

It certainly doesn’t seem to meet at all with generally accepted Canadian ideals, current laws/legislation re a woman’s right to choose, LGBTQ rights.

All churches have always had differing ethos- to which you can chose to be a member - but religion and political ideology mixed together is designed to create fear, power and control.

It is most unfortunate

So grateful to see this event has been CANCELLED!!

Many thanks, Miranda, for sharing the information and to everyone who put their thoughts on paper and sent these to city hall and to individual councillors.
