The important message in your positive and excellent article is that we are all in this together.

Too often we point fingers at those for whom there is no housing option or who can no longer afford housing. We see them as the “failures” in the homelessness story.

In fact they are people who work in our community, our friends and neighbours and they are living in situations that mean that they cannot care adequately for children and families, continue to work at their jobs (and pay their taxes) or to “have a life”.

As you say “no one is coming to save us”. We must work together and the Institute of Southern Georgian Bay includes Owen Sound and area and provides a network to promote solutions to affordable housing.
