Internationally-acclaimed professional singer-songwriter Kelly McMichael brings her unique blend of “bitch rock/witch pop” to Harmony Centre’s Greaves Auditorium for a rare solo performance on Saturday, July 26, at 8:00 pm.
McMichael has earned a name for herself as an alternative artist and producer with buttery vocals, genre-bending arrangements, and a commanding stage presence. Her compelling songwriting style blends retro pop and rock with hints of psychedelia and jazz.
Toronto’s prestigious Spill magazine called her performance at the 2022 Polaris Gala “showstopping,” while EXCLAIM! praised her for “continuing to drop explosive tunes,” which is hardly surprising… McMichael’s song, Bomb, was named by the magazine as among the best songs of 2024.
Critics say McMichael’s resilient and empathetic voice moves through themes of tear down and rebirth, gliding from biting grit to soft bliss. EAST magazine describes her as “a musician who has been shaped by experience and learned when to break the rules and when to make them her own.”
McMichael, who lives in Newfoundland, has several albums to her credit, including Waves (2021) and The Sting Of It (2024). She has appeared across North America and returned earlier this month from performing in Europe. Her Owen Sound stop is part of a Quebec-Ontario summer tour.
McMichael’s concert at Harmony Centre is being billed as one of Owen Sound’s most important musical events of the year. Concert organizers suggest you get your tickets early.
