Human Remains Located in Remote Area of Bruce Peninsula, OPP Confirms
Grey Bruce OPP confirm that human remains were found by archaeologists on the Bruce Peninsula. A coroner’s investigation is now underway.
Human remains have been discovered in a remote area of the Bruce Peninsula, prompting a coroner’s investigation led by provincial forensic experts.
According to Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the remains were located on Thursday, August 14, 2025, by archaeologists working in the area. Police responded to the call and consulted with the Office of the Chief Coroner and a forensic anthropologist.
On August 15, forensic specialists attended the site to carry out a detailed examination. The remains were collected and transported for further analysis.
The investigation is now being directed by the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, with assistance from the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit. A coordinated search of the surrounding area by the OPP Emergency Response Team did not uncover additional remains.
The coroner’s investigation remains ongoing.
