Hospital Foundation Says 30th Meaford Harbour 5K Was Its Biggest Fundraising Year
Thirty years of the Meaford waterfront run have put more than $1.27 million toward hospital priorities, the foundation says. This year's total is its largest yet.
Nearly 700 people took part in the 30th annual Meaford Harbour 5K Run/Walk on July 11, according to the Brightshores Meaford Hospital Foundation, which says the event had its largest fundraising year to date.
The foundation says the run raised $125,000 for a revitalization of the emergency department at Brightshores Meaford Hospital. It had set a goal of $100,000 for 2026.
Over 30 years, the foundation puts the event’s cumulative total at more than $1.27 million, directed to hospital priorities including diagnostic imaging, cancer and cardiac care facilities, mental health programs and emergency department equipment.
“To see almost 700 participants show up on our 30th anniversary — and to raise more than we ever have before — it’s a powerful reminder of what this community will do for its hospital,” executive director Vince Rogers said in the release.
The 31st Meaford Harbour 5K is scheduled for July 10, 2027.
