Local Cancer Survivor's Holiday Fundraiser Brings Big Prizes & Support for Cancer Care
The Brightshores Oncology Fundraiser is on with 12 days of prizes totaling nearly $7,000, supporting local cancer care in Grey-Bruce.
A community fundraiser inspired by one woman’s cancer journey is underway to support local oncology care.
The Brightshores Oncology Fundraiser, created by Lisa Dren, offers a 12-day Advent-style lottery with nearly $7,000 in prizes to be won between December 13 and 24. Tickets are $25 each and are on sale now across Grey-Bruce, with many prizes still to be won.
“I created this fundraiser to give back to the community that showed me such kindness and care during my cancer treatment last year,” said Dren. “I am so grateful that I was able to receive the treatment I needed so close to home, which allowed me to be surrounded by my friends and family.”
Dren added she hopes the effort will help “keep this kind of care available to those who live in Grey Bruce.”
Each $25 ticket enters the holder into every daily draw throughout the 12-day event, with prizes donated by local individuals and businesses. The full value of all prizes is $6,829, and Dren hopes to raise close to $30,000 to support local cancer care.
Some of the featured prizes include:

How the Draw Works
Daily draws will take place at 9:30 a.m. from December 13 to 24 at the Brightshores Foundation Office. Each ticket, once verified as paid, is entered into the drum for all 12 prize draws. Ticket stubs will be spun in the drum a minimum of three full rotations before each draw, and drawn tickets are returned to the drum afterward.
A neutral third party will supervise all draws.
Prize winners will be contacted via telephone, email, and registered mail. If all methods fail, the Foundation will publicize the winning names through local media within 120 days. Winners’ names may be shared through press releases, social media, or print advertising associated with the Foundation.
Prizes must be claimed within six months of the draw date and will be awarded as-is, with no substitutions.
While the fundraiser supports local healthcare, ticket purchases are not tax-deductible.
