Health Officials Seek Young Woman and German Shepherd-Like Dog After Teen Bitten
Grey Bruce Public Health is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that took place in Owen Sound on January 27, 2025.

Grey Bruce Public Health is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner of a dog involved in a biting incident that took place in Owen Sound on January 27, 2025.
The incident occurred between 2 and 4 p.m. on the west side of 2nd Avenue East, between 6th and 7th Streets, when a teenager was bitten by a dog that appeared similar to a German Shepherd. At the time, the dog was on a leash, and the teen encountered the owner while walking on a narrow, snowy sidewalk.
The owner is described as a young woman, approximately 18 to 22 years old, around 5’8” tall.
Grey Bruce Public Health officials are seeking to confirm that the dog is not infectious with rabies. If the dog’s health can be verified, the bite victim may be able to avoid post-exposure rabies treatment.
