Hanover Police Seek PT Cruiser in Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrian
Hanover Police are searching for a PT Cruiser convertible involved in a fatal hit-and-run on June 11 and have released the licence plate number as part of their investigation.

Hanover Police are investigating a fatal fail-to-remain collision that claimed the life of a local resident on the evening of June 11.
Emergency responders from the Hanover Police Service, Grey County Paramedic Services, and Hanover Fire Department were called to the scene around 5:20 p.m. after a pedestrian was struck near the entrance to Hanover Park on 7th Avenue.
The victim has been identified as 66-year-old Sheila Lamont of Hanover. She was reportedly crossing the street when she was struck by a northbound vehicle that fled the scene at high speed. Lamont was transported to Hanover and District Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police have identified the suspect vehicle as a red 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser, displaying Ontario licence plates CKPR 013. Investigators say the vehicle is expected to have front-end and windshield damage.
According to police, the vehicle had been observed driving erratically prior to the collision. It was seen traveling north on Concession 2 SDR (also known as the Southline) in the former Brant Township, continuing past Hanover and District Hospital onto 7th Avenue, where the collision occurred.
After the incident, the vehicle was last seen heading north on Bruce County Road 10 toward Elmwood, then turning westbound onto Concession 4.
The Hanover Police Service is working with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) traffic collision specialists and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are asking residents and businesses along the route—from Concession 2 SDR through Hanover to Concession 4—to review any available surveillance or dashcam footage recorded between 5:00 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. on June 11 for potential sightings of the suspect vehicle.
Police are urging anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle to contact them immediately by calling 911. They have also issued a public appeal for the driver to turn themselves in, warning that anyone found to be assisting the suspect may face criminal charges.
This investigation remains active. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
