Grey County Launches Business Support Hub in Response to U.S. Tariffs
Grey County has launched a business support hub with resources on U.S. tariffs and the Made in Grey brand to promote local shopping.
Grey County has launched a new online business support hub to help local businesses navigate the economic challenges of recently imposed U.S. trade tariffs. The webpage, available at Grey.ca/business-supports, serves as a central resource for businesses seeking information, support programs, and updates on trade policies.
According to the announcement, municipal leaders across Grey County are working together to monitor the impacts of the tariffs and advocate for local businesses. The county's economic development team says it stays informed through federal, provincial, and industry-led discussions while coordinating efforts with neighbouring counties in Western Ontario.
“During times of economic uncertainty, the strength of our communities lies in our unity,” said Grey County Warden Andrea Matrosovs. “We don’t know the full scope of the challenges that lie ahead, but Grey County will support our communities every step of the way, just as I know our residents will support one another. We will stand strong and resilient.”
Business Support and Advocacy Efforts
As part of its response, Grey County is working with the Western Ontario Warden’s Caucus (WOWC) to gather business data on the expected impacts of the tariffs. The survey, accessible on the business support webpage, will help inform policy discussions and potential support programs.
In addition to sharing information on federal and provincial relief measures as they become available, Grey County will keep businesses updated through newsletters, which residents can subscribe to at the bottom of any webpage on Grey.ca.
Encouraging Local Support: ‘Made in Grey’ Brand
To strengthen community resilience, Grey County also promotes its Made in Grey brand, which helps consumers easily identify locally made products. Initially launched in 2019, the initiative is open to any business that builds, grows, or manufactures products in the county. A branding toolkit and logos are available for download on the business support webpage at no cost.
“Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the engine of our regional economy,” said Savanna Myers, Grey County’s director of economic development, tourism, and culture. “Grey County is here to support them, and we know our community wants to support them too. Made in Grey branding is a tool available to all producers and manufacturers. It’s one way to mark products as proudly made in Grey County.”
