Grey Bruce OPP Thanks Bystanders Who Helped Officer During New Year’s Eve Arrest
Grey Bruce OPP thank two unknown bystanders who helped an officer during a dangerous arrest on Highway 21 in Saugeen First Nation during a snowstorm on New Year’s Eve.

Grey Bruce OPP are expressing their gratitude to two members of the public who stepped in to assist an officer during a tense arrest on Highway 21 amid a snowstorm on New Year’s Eve.
At approximately 7:36 p.m. on December 31, an officer encountered a wanted individual walking in a live lane of Highway 21 within Saugeen First Nation. During the attempted arrest, a struggle broke out.
According to the OPP, two bystanders stopped to help the officer bring the situation under control. The individuals left the scene before the officer could thank them, but their intervention helped ensure the arrest was made safely.
In a video message shared on social media, Constable Lyons of the Grey Bruce OPP extended appreciation on behalf of the detachment. “Your willingness to step in during a dangerous moment made a real difference,” Lyons said.
The wanted individual was taken safely into custody. No injuries were reported.
Police did not release details about the charges the individual was facing or why they were wanted.
