Grey Bruce OPP Issued 132 Seatbelt Tickets Over Easter Weekend Enforcement Campaign
OPP focused on seatbelt compliance across Grey Bruce over the Easter weekend, targeting one of the leading causes of serious injury in local collisions.
The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued 132 seatbelt-related tickets over the Easter long weekend as part of a targeted enforcement campaign aimed at improving road safety in the region.
The four-day campaign, which ran from April 18 to April 21, focused on ensuring both drivers and passengers were properly wearing seatbelts in accordance with Ontario law.
“Lack of seatbelt use continues to be a leading factor in preventable deaths, injuries, and property damage on local roads,” the OPP noted in a statement accompanying the results.
Seatbelt laws in Ontario require all drivers and passengers to be properly restrained, and failure to comply can result in fines and demerit points. The OPP emphasizes that seatbelts remain the single most effective safety measure in reducing serious injuries and fatalities in collisions.
The Grey Bruce detachment encourages motorists to prioritize safety, reminding the public: buckle up, every trip, every time.
