Georgian Bluffs Man Charged After Police Say He Fled Arrest and Stole Vehicle
A 31-year-old Georgian Bluffs man has been charged after police say he fled arrest and stole a vehicle in Owen Sound. The accused was arrested after a spike belt was used and held for a bail hearing.
A Georgian Bluffs man is facing several charges after police say he fled officers during a patrol in Owen Sound and took off in a stolen vehicle.
According to a statement from Grey Bruce OPP, officers were conducting patrols in the city around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday when they attempted to arrest a man wanted on an outstanding warrant. Police allege the man ran from officers and stole an unattended vehicle during the attempt.
The vehicle was located shortly afterward, and police deployed a spike belt to bring it to a stop. The suspect was arrested without further incident. No injuries or damage were reported in the release.
Broadie Jolley, 31, of Georgian Bluffs, has been charged with:
Flight from police
Obstructing a peace officer
Dangerous operation of a vehicle
Theft of a motor vehicle
Failing to comply with a probation order
Driving while under suspension
Police did not release additional information about the vehicle involved or the circumstances of the initial warrant. Jolley was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Wednesday.
