Georgian Bluffs Among 50 Communities to Receive Hydro One Ice Storm Recovery Grant
Georgian Bluffs will receive $10,000 from Hydro One to support recovery from the March 2025 ice storm, which caused widespread damage and power outages across the region.

The Township of Georgian Bluffs will receive $10,000 from Hydro One as part of the utility’s Ice Storm 2025: Recovery Grant, aimed at supporting local recovery efforts following the severe spring ice storm that swept across much of Ontario.
The grant is part of a $500,000 initiative announced Monday by Hydro One, which is distributing funding to 50 Indigenous communities and municipalities across the province.
The support is intended to assist with clean-up and restoration in areas heavily affected by the storm, which brought down power lines, damaged trees, and caused significant disruptions.
Georgian Bluffs was among the many municipalities that declared a Significant Weather Event during the storm, which struck in late March. Heavy ice accumulation caused widespread power outages, hazardous road conditions, and extensive damage to trees and private property.
Hydro One crews worked to restore power across the Grey-Bruce region, where thousands were left in the dark—some for days.
The $10,000 grant recognizes the township’s ongoing recovery needs. While Georgian Bluffs has since returned to regular operations, local infrastructure and natural areas continue to show the impact of the storm.
According to program guidelines, the funding may be used for community recovery programs such as tree replacement, debris removal, or other storm-related restoration projects.
