Georgian Bay Folk Society to Host Town Hall on Summerfolk 50
Organization launches fundraising "SummerSoak" t-shirt campaign after wettest year yet for the notoriously damp festival.
The Georgian Bay Folk Society (GBFS) will host a Town Hall meeting on Monday, November 4th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harmony Centre in Owen Sound. The event will focus on what is needed to ensure the success of the 50th edition of the Summerfolk Music and Crafts Festival in 2025.
Summerfolk 49, held earlier this year, was the wettest one yet. Persistent rain led to difficult conditions for attendees and eventually the early shutdown of the main stage. Despite the challenges, festival-goers embraced the weekend, but the overall outcome was not enough to meet the event’s financial needs.
This Town Hall aims to engage the community and gather input on how to address these challenges moving forward.
To help support the upcoming festival, the GBFS has launched a fundraising campaign with a limited-edition “I Survived SummerSoak 49” T-shirt, with proceeds going directly towards organizing Summerfolk 50. Donations are still being accepted, and supporters are encouraged to spread the word.
The GBFS will be looking to the community for ideas and feedback during the meeting, seeking to ensure that Summerfolk 50 is a success and continues to thrive as a beloved annual event.
